Why LAGOM?
"LAGOM" is a Swedish word that directly translates to "not too much, not too little, just right". It's the idea that all you need is all you need without any excess, and keeping it simple is best.
When it comes to furniture we're sick and tired of the flat-pack garbage that seems to be too much of the norm nowadays. It often gets produced overseas, the quality is terrible, it's cheap, but it isn't built to last and you deserve better. We wanted to bring furniture back into a local art, with designs that are glued and bent into a single piece, how it should be done, but instead try to do it at a middle-road price point. Our products are not inexpensive, but we still feel that they are modestly priced for the quality of materials involved, the degree of difficulty in fabrication, and the customizations in stain possible. They are not built out of solid walnut, but is that truly what you need anyway?
We're having a blast serving the local Austin community, getting to know you all in the process, and we look forward to what happens next!
Well-Rounded Furniture
We use a technique called "kerf" bending for our pieces, which involves a series of partial cuts (the kerfs) at each corner. We bend each half of the shell separately using band clamps that we slowly tighten over 30-45 minutes, while hand-steaming. We then flip the piece over and repeat the process for the second half of the shell. After 24 hours the wood glue within the kerfs hardens, and the shell retains it's bent shape!

We try to keep a small back stock of all the hotter selling pieces, such as the "Basic" Record Cabinet Feel free to shoot us a message to check our current stock! For all larger pieces (Tall, Wide & XL) we require a 50% deposit via Zelle, Venmo, or Cash to help secure materials and to get your build on our calendar. The build takes about 1.5 - 2 weeks on average from start to finish.
At this time we simply don't have the resources to do 100% custom builds, but are always happy to hear what you'd be interested in having us make! Sometimes it inspires new products that can be put into production!
